Mercedes signed a contract with Simone Resta, who was given the position of director of strategic development. Until January 2024, Resta was technical director of the Haas team.
The recruitment of an Italian specialist to the team took place as part of Mercedes’ restructuring, which was launched to return to a leading position. Simone Resta will take up his post in 2025 and work directly with the team’s technical director James Allison, who he worked with at Ferrari between 2013 and 2016.
In addition, Mercedes signed a contract with another Ferrari engineer, Enrico Sampo. He will lead the software development department.
Mercedes has found a replacement for Loic Serra, who moved to Ferrari. Instead, David Nelson, who previously worked in another role with the team, took the place of director of chassis performance.
