The ‘rumor season’ in Formula 1 is gaining momentum. The Italian press reports about the Aston Martin team’s interest in Max Verstappen and Adrian Newey.
Formu1a.uno reports that owner Lawrence Stroll is willing to consider selling a controlling stake in the Aston Martin team. The publication names Aramco, an oil company from Saudi Arabia, currently title sponsor of Aston Martin, as the main contender for the purchase.
During the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Aramco representatives conducted a series of negotiations, including with potential candidates for a place in the team. Aramco’s list of interests reportedly includes Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing constructor Adrian Newey.
From 2026, Honda will become the supplier of power sources to the Aston Martin team and Aramco believes that this factor can contribute to the transition of Max Verstappen, who has made no secret in recent weeks that he is not happy with the situation at Red Bull Racing in connection with the “Horner Cases” scandal.
Considering Aramco’s virtually unlimited financial capabilities and the fact that the budget constraints do not concern driver salaries, Max Verstappen’s move to Aston Martin does not seem impossible, although today it remains at the level of unconfirmed rumors.
