Fernando Alonso’s contract with Aston Martin expires at the end of 2025. In Melbourne, the Spanish driver reiterated that he had not yet decided whether to continue his career, but if he continued and could not reach an agreement with his current team, he would consider other options.
Fernando Alonso: “I think I will make a decision before the summer. At the presentation of the car I said I wanted to do a few races and then decide, but they kept asking me the same questions.
If I say I will make a decision in the summer, these questions may not be asked again in the coming races. First I need to understand how I feel, and only then see what options are available.
My priority is the negotiations with Aston Martin. They gave me the opportunity two years ago, so the least I can do now is talk to them first. If we remain satisfied with each other, the choice is quickly made. If we can’t reach an agreement, I will look for other options.”
When asked to comment on rumors surrounding his negotiations with Red Bull, Fernando replied: “I have nothing to comment on as all I can say will only be rumors and speculation.”
