Verstappen on the differences between Hamilton and Leclerc

Last year Max Verstappen won the title in a tough confrontation with Lewis Hamilton. In 2022, the Red Bull Racing driver’s main rival has changed – now it’s Charles Leclerc. Max told how the confrontation with the Mercedes racer is different from the confrontation with the Ferrari racer.

Max Verstappen: “Drivers are different, offensively or defensively different. Therefore, a unique approach is needed in the fight against each of them.

It seems natural to me that in Formula 1 I fight racers with whom I fought back in karting. I especially want to emphasize Charles – it’s nice that we, two young pilots, are fighting for victories. We have great duels with him. In addition, I am happy that my friend Carlos Sainz now drives a competitive Ferrari.

I think the conflict between Red Bull and Mercedes contributed to our confrontation with Hamilton. The conflict developed over the course of the season and fueled the confrontation on the track.

Max added that he doesn’t feel fear when fighting rivals: “If you feel fear, you will not succeed. I never think about the risk of injury, I am only focused on winning.

I know very well what to do, and I don’t need outside help. The experience I have gained in Formula 1 in recent years has ensured that I have become the best version of Max Verstappen.”
