Alonso: The correlation is fine, and that’s always good

Even if Fernando Alonso’s results in the first two races of the season are worse than a year ago, when he was on the podium in both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the new Aston Martin car shows higher speeds than the AMR23, and this gives reason for optimism.

Fernando Alonso: “I think our team has made good progress and so far the AMR24 is meeting our expectations. We worked on the car all winter, tested it and already in the simulator we saw that there was a difference with last year’s car. Now this has been confirmed on a real track, and if the correlation is okay, it’s always good. Although the car has clearly become faster, we must of course continue to increase the speed.

In the past I have always been able to show good results at the Melbourne circuit. Usually the Australian race is rich in incidents, the probability of a safety car is quite high, and if there are many different events, this usually provides the opportunity to earn points. So I’m optimistic that this weekend will turn out quite well for us.”
