Lando Norris admits that McLaren has not yet managed to achieve the desired level of results, but the team is already gradually starting to solve the problems that hampered it at the start of the season.
Lando Norris: “I think we have already discovered the reasons for some of the problems. In the previous stage, in Saudi Arabia, Oscar Piastri and I chose different directions when working with the settings, we collected a lot of information about the operation of the car, about what bothers us, about what works well in the car and what works poorly works .
I think it was very useful, and that experience will serve us well during the Australian weekend. However, there is nothing that will completely change the picture, and we will not go much faster, but we are still in a good position and we are not losing that many to the teams ahead of us.
The results are already very tight, and will likely remain that way throughout the season. All little things can affect it, but there are many things that require serious attention.
Although I don’t think we can get ahead of Ferrari yet, they are still noticeably faster than us. We are slightly behind them in race pace than in qualifying speed. I think the Ferrari drivers can get quite close to the Red Bull at a circuit like Albert Park, although again the results will be very close because it is a fairly short lap.
But I predict that everyone will have an exciting qualifying session and a very interesting race.”
