Helmut Marko commented on the results of Friday’s training for the Australian Grand Prix. Red Bull’s motorsport advisor admitted that Max Verstappen has not yet been able to find the optimal car settings for the race due to the loss of time associated with replacing the damaged underbody of the RB20.
Helmut Marko: “Charles Leclerc is quite fast. Max seriously damaged the underside and other parts of the car during the first practice. This allowed him to take to the track just twenty minutes after the start in the second session. We didn’t have enough time to find the optimal settings.
On the fast lap we didn’t use the qualifying engine settings because it didn’t make sense. We are slightly behind on the race distance, but only because we did not have enough time to fine-tune the car. Either way it will be an exciting battle, but I am confident that we will achieve success.”
