Sebastian Vettel will test the Porsche 963 hypercar

Sebastian Vettel will test the Porsche 963 Hypercar of the Porsche Penske Motorsport factory team, which participates in the FIA WEC World Endurance Championship.

Next week the tests will take place at the Spanish Motorland Aragon circuit. The four-time Formula 1 world champion has already worked on the simulator and on March 21 he drove his first laps behind the wheel of a real hypercar on the circuit of the Porsche Research Center in Weissach.

Sebastian Vettel: “I’m looking forward to testing the Porsche 963. I have already had the chance to test the car in Weissach.

I’ve always been interested in other racing series and my curiosity about endurance racing made me just want to give it a try. Now I’m looking forward to long runs in Aragon and the opportunity to spend time behind the wheel.

There will definitely be some adjustments to my driving style and getting used to it, but everyone in the team is very open and helpful. A new experience awaits me. Then we’ll see what happens next – at the moment I have no further plans for the future.”

Last year it was reported that Sebastian Vettel received an offer to try out in endurance racing with the Jota team, but as we can see, the option with the factory team proved more attractive. It was Porsche Penske Motorsport who won the first stage of the 2024 season in Qatar.

Porsche Penske Motorsport will conduct tests in Aragon next week in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans marathon. In addition to Vettel, Matt Campbell, Michael Christensen, Frederik Makowiecki, Kevin Estre, Andre Lotterer and Laurens Vanthoor will race at the Spanish circuit.
