Charles Leclerc led the protocol of the second free practice of the Australian Grand Prix. His teammate Carlos Sainz returned behind the wheel of a Ferrari for the first time since an appendectomy and confirmed he will continue to take part in the Melbourne race weekend.
Charles Leclerc (1st): “Good first day – I felt comfortable in the car from the start. Tomorrow the most important thing is to predict how much the track condition will change. We will focus on optimizing the balance and trying to take a step forward before qualifying.
Everything looks good now, but we have to wait until Saturday. I expect the results to be sharper tomorrow.”
Carlos Sainz (3rd): “Today preceded some difficult weeks and I am very happy that I feel quite comfortable after completing both training sessions. I will continue step by step to approach qualifying and the race in the best form.
I’m sure tomorrow will be better and the car will be fast this weekend. I’m going to try to get the most out of my body and car!”
