Alonso: There is no need to draw conclusions based on the results of the training

Aston Martin drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso finished the second practice session for the Australian Grand Prix in the top five. The team is satisfied with the speed of the car, but suggests not to jump to conclusions and wait for the qualifying results.

Lance walk (4th): “The car did well today. I am happy with the balance, the day went without any problems and a lot of information was collected.

We’ve been quite fast on one lap this season, so it’s nice to see the trend has continued at this track. But let’s remain steadfast, because only Friday’s training is behind us and we don’t know what programs the others have been working on.

Anyway, a good start to the weekend and I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel in qualifying tomorrow.”

Fernando Alonso (5th): “It’s always difficult in Albert Park – the track quickly becomes covered with rubber “worms”, leading to a change in grip on the asphalt. This even left me in the gravel at Turn 10 in the first practice session, forcing me to check the underside of the car as the session progressed.

As a result, we adjusted the program a bit, but the second training went smoothly and we did everything we planned.

It’s always nice to be in the first positions of the protocol, but we won’t draw any conclusions based on today’s results. Now that we’ve only trained, we have a lot of variables to take into account. The team has collected a lot of information to analyze, which will help to prepare as best as possible for qualifying.”
