Pilot “Red Bull” Max Verstappen won qualification for the third stage of the Formula 1 championship, the Australian Grand Prix, which takes place in Melbourne.
The defending champion posted his best lap in the final segment in 1 minute 15.915 seconds.
The second will begin Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), who missed the previous race in Saudi Arabia due to appendicitis. The Spaniard was 0.270 seconds behind Verstappen’s result.
The third time showed Sergio Perez (Red Bull, +0.359).
Sainz’s teammate Charles Leclerc qualified fifth. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) did not qualify for the final qualifying round and will start from 11th position. Alexander Albon, to whom Williams offered Logan Sargent’s car, finished 12th.
The race will take place on Sunday and will start at 7:00 Moscow time.
