Triple world champion Max Verstappen abandoned from the Australian Grand Prix due to technical problems with the car “Red Bull”.
The Dutch driver started from pole position, but then almost without a fight let Spaniard Carlos Sainz take the lead in a Ferrari. On the fourth lap, Verstappen’s car broke down: the brake disc caught fire. As a result, the Red Bull driver was able to make it to the pits, where the team put out the fire and rolled the car into the pits.
For Versttapen, 26, it was the first retirement since the 2022 event in Australia. The Dutchman’s 9-match winning streak, which had lasted since last season, was also interrupted.
The Formula 1 race in Australia continues at present, Sainz is in the lead.
