Athletistic / Formula 1. Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix race results may be subject to revision. After the finish, the stewards announced the opening of an investigation into the circumstances of Mercedes driver George Russell’s accident on the penultimate lap of the race.
Judges believe the British driver could theoretically lose control of the car due to the actions of Spanish Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso. The fact is that the Spaniard was able to brake before the sixth turn earlier than he usually did. Alonso could have deliberately taken this step to spoil Russell’s corners in front of the two DRS zones.
Note that Fernando Alonso took sixth place in the Australian Grand Prix. The victory was won by his compatriot, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz Jr.
