Qualification

After qualifying for the Paul Ricard, Charles Leclerc took his seventh pole of the season and 16th of his career, equaling Max Verstappen, Stirling Moss and Felipe Massa in this indicator.

In terms of pole positions, Leclerc is third in Ferrari history behind Niki Lauda (23) and Michael Schumacher (58). Leclerc started from the front row for the 20th time in his career.

Max Verstappen qualified second and made his 37th front row start of his career, leading Stirling Moss, David Coulthard and Mark Webber.

In the twelfth stage, Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen shared the front row of the grid for the sixth time this year.

Sergio Perez’s third fastest time is his best qualifying result for Paul Ricard.

Lewis Hamilton qualified fourth, repeating Mercedes’ best result this season – starting fourth in two races in a row for the first time this year. George Russell showed for the sixth time – in a few Mercedes drivers again equality – 6:6 – this is no longer the case in any team. For the third time this year, both Mercedes drivers were in the top six.

Yuki Tsunoda qualified eighth and repeated his best result of the season.

Pierre Gasly dropped out for the fourth time this season in the first part of qualifying.

Lance Stroll was eliminated in the first part of qualifying for the seventh time in a row.

By winning the French Grand Prix, Max Verstappen took his seventh win of the season and the 27th of his career, equaling Jackie Stewart in this indicator.

Verstappen passed the 1,500 career lap milestone. Now he is in 13th place in the ranking for this indicator with 1527 laps ahead, and in 12th Nico Rosberg – 1533 laps.

Lewis Hamilton has finished second and has achieved the best result for Mercedes this season. In his 300th Grand Prix, the Briton finished second for the 49th time, beating his own record.

For the 50th time in history, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have taken the podium together.

George Russell climbed to the third step of the podium, the first time this season that both Mercedes drivers have been in the top three.

Sergio Pérez finished fourth and finished outside the top three for the fourth time this season.

Carlos Sainz finished fifth, having started to bounce back from 19th place. Fifth place is Sainz’s best result over Paul Ricard. Sainz has passed the 40,000 km milestone in racing.

Fernando Alonso finished sixth and set a new F1 career lap record with 18,672 laps, up from former record holder Kimi Raikkonen’s 18,621. Lewis Hamilton is third with 17,146 laps.

Alonso’s sixth place is Alpine-Renault’s best result at Paul Ricard since the return of the French Grand Prix to the calendar.

Esteban Ocon finished eighth, earning points at home for the first time. For the first time of the season, both Alpine drivers finished in the top eight.
