Verstappen wins the Formula 1 French Grand Prix, Leclerc retires in the lead

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the Formula 1 French Grand Prix.

The Dutch rider covered the fastest distance of 53 laps (309.69 km).

Mercedes’ Briton Lewis Hamilton took second place, 10.587 seconds behind the winner.

Third place was taken by another Mercedes driver, George Russell.

Monegasque Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, starting from pole position, lost control of the car and retired on lap 18, having previously led the race. His Spanish teammate Carlos Sainz was given a 5 second penalty for causing an emergency when leaving the pit stop.
