After three races, Williams has not earned any more points. Team driver Alex Albon is disappointed with the poor start to the season and says the results need to be better.
“The whole team, including myself, wants more than what we have,” Racingnews365 quotes Alex. “Last year we sacrificed a lot in the development of the car to be able to devote all our attention to the 2024 car.
The reality turned out to be that there is a big gap between the fifth and sixth fastest teams. What’s even more frustrating is the fact that our car has speed but we can’t unlock it.
In reality, it feels like we’re fighting for positions we shouldn’t be fighting for. We need to be higher on the protocol.”
In Melbourne, Max Verstappen and both Mercedes drivers retired. Alex Albon is angry that he could not take advantage of his rivals’ problems and earn points: “We need this kind of races, but the result is unpleasant because our rivals earned points. If three riders from the top teams stop, we have to take advantage of that and unfortunately we were not able to do that.”
