James Vowles: We will have two cars at Suzuka

Williams started repairing Albon’s car, which was wrecked in Melbourne, at 2am on Monday. Team boss James Vowles said the car would be repaired in time.

James Vowles: “I’m confident we can repair the chassis. We made every effort to ensure that the chassis was delivered to the base early Monday morning. It was delivered around 2am and work has been going on in the building since then, dismantling it and making repairs. We are confident that we will do everything on time.

Most of the work was done in Melbourne. We photographed everything in detail, non-destructive testing methods allowed us to assess the damage and develop a plan for further work. This preparation ensured that we could start work at two o’clock on Monday morning. I’m sure we’ll have two cars in Suzuka.

Alex’s accident in Melbourne will cost us a lot of money, but the new products we plan for Japan will still appear. These are small updates, but they will each contribute to the overall picture.”
