Verstappen’s chief mechanic leaves Red Bull Racing

Lee Stevenson, the team’s chief mechanic responsible for Max Verstappen’s car, has left Red Bull Racing, where he worked for 18 years.

Stevenson can rightly be considered one of those key figures thanks to whom Max won racing titles, and now he has decided to part ways with the team. It was in particular under his leadership that Verstappen’s mechanics managed to repair the suspension of the Dutchman’s car in 2020, before the Hungarian Grand Prix, which had been damaged by an accidental departure from the track on the way to the starting field.

Yesterday was Stevenson’s last day with the Milton Keynes team and he recorded a special video message and posted it on social networks: “This is my last day at Red Bull, after 18 incredible years in which we have achieved incredible success together with the team achieved. .

I would like to thank the whole team because when I started working here in 2006, I didn’t even think we would win poles, races and championships, but we all did it. And now a new chapter begins and on Monday I will fly to Japan to start working in my new team, whose pits are on the other side of the pit lane. A big challenge awaits me, but I am ready to take it on!”
