Charles Leclerc: I think it was my fault

On lap 19 of the race, Charles Leclerc went off the track, lost control of the car at Turn 11 and crashed into a tire barrier. Although it appeared from the outside that his Ferrari’s turn was due to some technical malfunction, Charles admitted it was his fault.

Charles Leclerc: “I think I’ve reached the highest point of my career, but if I make mistakes like that, it’s all meaningless. I lose too many points. I think in Imola today I lost seven points – 25, although we probably had the fastest car.

And if we lose the championship by 32 points at the end of the season, then I know what happened. This is unacceptable. I need to look at the telemetry, but for now I can’t say what caused it. But still, I think it was my fault.

Perhaps I acted too aggressively and lost control of the rear of the car as a result. Overall this weekend is very difficult due to balance issues – the car has a tendency to oversteer. In addition, in such heat it is extremely difficult to achieve stability – in the end I made a mistake. And it happened at the most inopportune moment…”
