Alfa Romeo has prepared new items for Imola

Alfa Romeo has prepared car updates for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. The team expects that technical innovations can earn points with two cars in Imola.

Frederic Vasseur, Team Principal: “The race in Imola is very important for our season. This is one of the team’s home games, which is very important for Alfa Romeo, so we want to do it right. In addition, this is the first European race of the season and the first opportunity to bring important updates to the car.

We have prepared new items for the Imola, including a new bottom, and we are confident that the updates will take it one step further. However, we know that rivals are also moving forward and improving the cars, so it will be interesting to see how the balance of power will pan out, especially given the shorter training time due to the sprint weekend format.

It’s going to be an exciting stage and I’m looking forward to playing for the incredible fans in Italy.”

Valtteri Bottas: “Everyone in the team is in a great mood. For every weekend we know that you can fight with the car up front in the middle group and claim a lot of points – this gives everyone confidence.

In Australia we have seen that we can be competitive and we have what it takes to position ourselves just behind the leaders. But we also saw that with such a high density, every little thing counts – preparing for qualifying and getting out of the safety car can significantly affect the final result. That’s why we’re extremely focused on every step we take over the weekend.

In Imola we have serious opportunities. The track itself is interesting, with new cars you can fight and I’m sure of a good result. I can’t wait to get back on track – we’ll see what we can do in one of the team’s home races.”

Guanyu Zhou: “I’m looking forward to the race weekend in Imola. I have to participate in one of the historic circuits and I am very happy to be racing for passionate fans. I think the weekend will be exciting, and passing the famous corners will be an incredible experience.

I’ve only raced at Imola once in Formula 3, so the track isn’t completely new to me, but it will be interesting to master it in a C42. I also have my first sprint coming up, so I need to pick up speed quickly in the first practice, but don’t worry – we’ll be ready.

I started the season strong and I’m proud of the work done, but I want more and continue to work hard with the team to add something in every race. I feel we are making progress and I am sure I will have another chance at Imola to fight for the qualifying final and for the points.”
