After the accident in Melbourne, Williams restored the second car for the Suzuka stage and delivered it to the circuit…
Dave Robson, Chief Race Engineer: “It’s only been a few months since we last competed in Japan, it will be interesting to drive on this beautiful circuit at a different time of year. The weather forecast promises cool weather and does not rule out heavy rain showers that could affect the course of the competition.
Suzuka has a difficult circuit, which demands a lot from the car, the tires and the drivers. This weekend Pirelli will deliver the strongest connections available to withstand heavy loads. The cold conditions will affect the performance of the tires, we will try to find an approach to this in qualifying and race conditions.
A lot of work has been done at Grove since our return from Melbourne and we aim to fight seriously for a good result at Suzuka.”
Alex Albon: “I’m looking forward to Suzuki, a podium at one of my favorite circuits, and of course the great Japanese fans. The stage in Australia clearly did not go as we had hoped, which further highlights the difficulties we face. Despite this, the team at the track and in Grove rallied to recover the car from the accident and get it on track on time.”
Logan Sargent: “The Australian weekend was difficult for me and the team. I am grateful to the fans who supported us and want to put this difficult moment behind them.
In between races I went to Bali to stay fit both mentally and physically and spent a lot of time in the gym. I’m happy to be back in Japan. Suzuka is a legendary circuit, one of my favorites on the calendar. I’m looking forward to racing it again.”
