Hill: Suzuka will be a test for Red Bull and Ferrari

On the F1 Nation podcast, 1996 world champion Damon Hill spoke about Ferrari’s chances against Red Bull at Suzuka…

Damon Hill: “The Suzuka race could be a real test for Red Bull and Ferrari, allowing them to evaluate the cars’ aerodynamic efficiency and tire wear.

Ferrari cars are fast on the straights, of which there are many in Suzuka, and I hope they can challenge the leaders in the race and win.

Max will probably take pole position in qualifying with a lead of two to three tenths, but in the race the battle could be evenly matched.

We don’t know, did Ferrari win in Melbourne because Max’s car broke down, or because of the speed? We will never know, but if Ferrari beats its rivals in a direct fight, the situation in the championship will change.

I may be wishful thinking, but it’s not because I don’t want Max to win the race, I just want to see a closer fight. If Ferrari can win, it will be a shock for the whole of Formula 1, because it means that Red Bull can be beaten.”
