Verstappen: I’m ready to fight for victory in Suzuka

Red Bull is optimistically looking forward to the race in Suzuka, hoping to regain the initiative after a bad weekend in Melbourne…

Max Verstappen: “The team is looking forward to the stage in Suzuka with confidence. This is an iconic song that is always interesting to perform. There are many fond memories associated with it, including winning last year’s Constructors’ Championship and the second Drivers’ title.

Before the weekend started, I had some downtime with my family – always a fun time in Tokyo. The last race in Melbourne was not successful, that happens, but we have achieved nine wins in a row and this weekend we want to return to the battle in even better form.

Suzuka has a lot of fast corners and a high level of tire wear, so it is important to optimize performance taking into account possible rainfall over the course of the weekend. I’m looking forward to getting back in the car this weekend and being ready to fight for the win.”

Sergio Perez: “Racing at Suzuka is always interesting, and going into the first corner is breathtaking – it’s nice to come out in the lead. The Japanese stage is special; This will take place much earlier in the season this year, which will create even more interest.

I love being in Tokyo before race week. Japanese food is one of my favorites. I’ll try to enjoy it before I go to Suzuka and concentrate on the race.

The weather can have a big influence on how things go: it rains a lot here, so it’s important to make the most of your track time to optimize your settings.

The round in Australia wasn’t the best for the team, it’s a shame I got a penalty and damage in the race, but we have faced similar setbacks in the past. I want to be on the podium again this weekend.”
