Sebastian Vettel is considering a return to Formula 1 in 2025. The four-time world champion spoke about this in a new interview, which was broadcast on Wednesday on the British Sky Sports.
When Sebastian was asked whether he sees himself as one of the contenders for a place behind the wheel of one of the teams next season, he replied: “Potentially yes, since I don’t have a place behind the wheel for next year, but the question is whether I am looking for Am I such a place? I think the answer depends on the proposals.
I didn’t leave Formula 1 to return, but I said then that there were options. I don’t think anything has changed since then.
Of course there are things I miss. In short, it’s a rivalry. But there are also things in Formula 1 that I don’t miss, and that hasn’t changed. Life is very different when you are not in Formula 1 and I love it: I get to do a lot of different things.
You never know where life will take you. Maybe she’ll get me back behind the wheel, but maybe not. Sometimes I think about returning, but these thoughts don’t take up all my time. I have three children, so I have something to do every day.”
Sebastian Vettel added that he will continue to maintain contacts with the world of Formula 1: “I have had negotiations with Toto Wolff, but not so much about the seat behind the wheel, but about the situation in general. I’ve also been talking to other people as I continue to stay in touch. I have a project and ideas related to Formula 1 – let’s see if they can be realized, but I will stay in touch.
Several calls and negotiations need to take place to better understand the situation at Mercedes. But there is no doubt that they have one of the best positions in Formula 1. Mercedes has an impressive track record, although they have faced some problems in recent years. But despite the problems, they achieve second or third place in the constructors’ championship. They are not far behind anything.”
