Ricciardo: I feel like I can improve

Daniel Ricciardo still backs Yuki Tsunoda, his Visa RB teammate, but insists he will not let this affect his positive attitude and hopes he can make improvements in Japan.

Daniel Ricciardo: “Formally the results leave a lot to be desired and I also understand that they are not what I would like, but it is even funny that this does not affect my self-confidence and my positive attitude in any way. Nothing changes in this regard.

We just need to achieve the desired results, and for that we need to solve some problems, but in my opinion the situation in the team is not bad. The reasons why we have not yet managed to reach the desired level are somewhat strange, but the main thing is that I am in an excellent mood, especially since I spent several days at home in my home country, and this is always great.

I arrived in Suzuka with fresh energy and although it is difficult to predict how things will go this weekend, I am now confident that I can show a good result.

Together with the team we put a lot of effort into solving the difficulties, because we had to find out to what extent they were due to me, and to what extent to the car. In the sense that the car does not yet fully meet my preferences. In fact, we are talking about different kinds of nuances, but it is important that we continue to work focused and, together with my engineers, solve these problems independently, without calling in outside help.

I think it is important to continue in the direction we are going, although it is a bit disappointing that we are not yet achieving the results we need, but I feel that I am in good shape and can make improvements apply.”
