Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez set the second and third fastest times in qualifying for the French Grand Prix. Red Bull Racing is counting on the high speed of the RB18 over long laps to beat Charles Leclerc in the race.
Max Verstappen (2nd): “The last session is not all of qualifying, but the car lacked grip. Qualifying turned out to be a little more difficult than I expected, but our car is fast on the race distance and I hope we get the advantage back tomorrow.
We are fast on the straights and I hope we can use that in the race. Tomorrow it is expected to be hotter, but for now the only thing that is clear is that Ferrari is fast again.”
Sergio Perez (3rd): “It was a tough weekend for me – up to qualifying I had the hardest weekend of the season, but I was able to improve during qualifying.
I have a good starting position. In the race I will try to win back and finish ahead of the red cars. They were very fast today, but we’ll see what happens tomorrow.”
