Athletistic / Formula 1. Russian driver Nikita Mazepin spoke about the progress of testing with the Haas Formula 1 team. In March 2022, the Russian was excluded from the American team for non-sporting reasons and without payment of compensation.
“Our trial is ongoing. The case has already been considered in arbitration. We are now waiting for a decision, which I hope will be issued soon,” Mazepin said, as quoted by RBC-Sport.
Haas terminated the contract with Mazepin on March 5, 2022. This decision was made due to the political situation in Ukraine. It should be noted that the American team broke the contract with the title sponsor, the Russian company Uralkali, of which Dmitry Mazepin, Nikita’s father, is vice-chairman of the board of directors.
Interestingly, in March 2024, Nikita was removed from the EU sanctions lists by court decision.
