Alpine brought several new products to the Japanese Grand Prix and was able to try them out in the first training…
Esteban Ocon (11th in the first session): “It’s great that the stands in Suzuka were full this morning. The only pity is that the cars hardly ran in the second session.
Today we assessed the car’s behavior for the first time with some new features. In the first training everything went as expected, in the second we wanted to try something different, but the weather did not allow us to do so.
Given the limited distance, it is difficult to see the big picture, but in the evening we will analyze everything to be in better shape tomorrow. Saturday’s training is very important in preparation for qualifying.”
Pierre Gasly (17th in the first session): “In the first training we tried several new solutions, and then it started to rain, which disrupted our further plans.
In the morning session we gathered information about new details, now we need to check them to confirm some things. Let’s see what we can do to achieve more tomorrow. There have been no surprises so far, all attention is focused on the rest of the weekend.”
