Representatives of 27 American car clubs and federations signed the document published on the FIA website, in support of the current president. They are calling for legal action against those who, they believe, have wrongly accused Mohammed bin Sulayem.
“The decision of the Ethics Committee confirms that the President of the FIA, Mr Mohammed bin Sulayem, has acted with integrity, transparency and independence.
Allegations of inappropriate behavior and unethical practices spread by some print and digital media are aimed solely at damaging the FIA and its management, especially the President.
The election of the FIA President is set out in the FIA Statutes and is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the voting members of the organization and is not dependent on those who seek to interfere in this process for their own selfish reasons.
We will recommend that the FIA take legal action against those who defame the FIA and its management without cause.
We approve and reaffirm our vote of confidence in Mr. Mohammed bin Sulayem,” the statement said.
