Valtteri Bottas: There is hope to fight for points

Valtteri Bottas posted the 13th fastest time in qualifying at Suzuka, but the very fact that the car allowed the Finnish Sauber driver to progress to the second session is encouraging, and he fell less than two tenths short of reaching the final reaches. But his partner had bad luck, partly due to technical problems, and Guanyu Zhou will start the race tomorrow from the last position.

Valtteri Bottas (13th): “Today I am satisfied with the performance of the car, this was the case during both morning practice and qualifying. It was great that I was able to get through to the second session again and was about to reach the final.

Of course it would be even better to break into the top ten, but this result confirms that we are moving in the right direction when it comes to working with technical innovations that we were preparing for the last two stages of the season. For this we must pay tribute to everyone working at the team base in Hinwil for their continued support.

We have continued to make progress step by step all weekend and, looking at tomorrow’s race, I am confident that if we do everything right, we can compete with the cars starting around us and hopefully get some points. “

Guanyu Zhou (20th): “Difficult day. Unfortunately, a technical problem caused me to miss the end of the third practice session, leaving me only time to complete a long series of laps, after which I had to go straight to qualifying.

My lack of preparation made it difficult for me to predict the car’s behavior, and although I did my best, the rear wheels simply did not have enough grip in the last part of the track, where I lost a lot. time.

I think if I had more time to prepare for qualifying I would be in a better position. The results are very tight, and although the chances of competing for points will depend on the extent to which overtaking is likely, I am confident that I will have the opportunity to make up positions. Tomorrow is a new day and our team continues to work hard.”
