Alpine has prepared new products for the Japanese stage and is pleased that one of the cars was able to qualify for the second part of qualifying…
Esteban Ocon (15th): “During practice on Saturday I wasn’t completely happy with the balance of the car, but I’m happy that we were able to improve the settings at the start of qualifying.
I rode well on the decisive lap in the first part of qualifying, but many managed to improve in the second part. Today I got the best out of the car, but it wasn’t enough to get higher than 15th.
Tomorrow it is important to seize every opportunity and participate in the battle – let’s see where we end up at the finish line.”
Pierre Gasly (17th): “I’m angry that I left the fight in the first session. The car looked good in the first sector but then started to skid, leading to the rear tires overheating. I didn’t have enough grip coming out of the corners, the rear of the car skidded – there were too many problems. We have to figure this out.
Tomorrow we will fight, as always. There will be opportunities, we have to take advantage of them.”
