Bad weekend for Williams – all Formula 1 news 2024

The race in Suzuka was not a success for Williams. Logan Sargent finished last and Alex Albon stopped…

Logan Sargent (17th): “After the second pit stop I desperately tried to overtake a group of riders in front of me, hit the curb and flew off the track.

Everything went well before that. We opted for a daring strategy and decided to ride Fast for two sections. I think it would have worked, but on the lap where we planned to change the tires everyone decided to pit and instead of gaining a few places we lost them.

If everything had gone according to plan, the race would have been very different. However, we tried to adapt by pitting again and could have achieved a decent result, but I made that little mistake.”

Alex Albon (departure): “I didn’t have a very good start, but the Soft tires provided good grip going into the second corner. Probably Daniel Ricciardo just didn’t see me. I tried to back up, but I couldn’t move fast enough and ended up crashing.

Overall, the weekend was not a success. The impact of the accident was not strong, but the car hit the tire barrier and stopped very quickly and abruptly. We will assess the damage and prepare the car for China.”
