Testing of prototype Pirelli tires for the 2025 season began on Tuesday after the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka with the participation of Sauber and RB. Today’s testing has been completed, Valtteri Bottas and Daniel Ricciardo were on track.
They completed 133 and 106 laps. The Finn’s best time is 1:34.002, that of the Australian is 1:34.815. Both were a few seconds slower than in Saturday’s qualifying, but the lap times did not matter today.
“The program consisted of comparing different tire compounds and designs for the following season, mainly choosing a combination that would significantly reduce overheating.
During the rain this morning we were able to work with the intermediate tires to find solutions that allowed us to use them without thermal covers,” Pirelli said in a statement at the end of the day.
Bottas continues testing tomorrow, with Ricciardo replacing Yuki Tsunoda at RB.
