Athletistic/Formula 1. According to Sport.es, Spanish Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz is close to signing a contract with Mercedes. Discussions about it are taking place in the paddock and, according to the source, the deal could be officially announced in the coming weeks.
Note that Sainz will leave Ferrari after the end of the current season. His place will be taken by Lewis Hamilton, seven-time Formula 1 champion, who drives for Mercedes.
Sainz currently occupies fourth place in the overall drivers’ standings with 55 points. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen leads with 77 points.
