The partners of the German ABT team in 2025 are the British company Lola Cars and the Japanese Yamaha Motor Company. We talked about the latter’s alliance and their decision to come to Formula E, and now it has been officially announced that this will be done in an alliance with ABT.
Currently, in the 10th season of the electric series, ABT is working with Cupra, the racing division of the Spanish company SEAT, but at the beginning of the year we said that the team plans to abandon the use of Mahindra engines. ABT’s new technology partners and suppliers will be Lola, which was only revived a few years ago, and Yamaha.
Together they will be involved in both the production of power plants and the development of software. Lola and Yamaha are intensively preparing for this; the phase of bench testing and other tests has already begun, but still in ‘laboratory’ conditions, and work on the real track should start in June. The announcement of the title sponsor, other business partners, rider selection, etc. is also expected in the coming months.
Alberto Longoco-founder of Formula E and director of the championship: “Formula E welcomes the arrival of Lola Cars and Yamaha Motor in our paddock, and we are also pleased that the ABT team will prepare together with new partners for the transition to the improved third generation cars (GEN3 Evo).
This partnership marks a continued commitment to innovation and sporting excellence in the world of electric vehicle racing, and we can’t wait to see what they achieve on the track.”
Thomas BiermeierCEO and Team Principal of ABT: “We are delighted to have found two such illustrious partners and to entrust our future in Formula E to them. When a new manufacturer enters the World Championship, serious difficulties await them, of course, but During our After discussions and negotiations, we had a clear feeling that Lola and Yamaha were committed to making this project a success, and that they had the skills and motivation to do so.
All our employees have the same attitude. In the meantime, we are fully focusing on the current season, in which we want to achieve the best possible result.”
