The organizers of the Women’s W Series have announced changes to the calendar for the current season. Instead of the stage in Japan, which was scheduled to take place on October 7-9, a race will be held in Singapore for the first time in the history of the series (September 30-October 30). The reason for replacing the podium is called “unforeseen operational problems”.
Katherine Bond Miur, W Series Executive Director, said: “Since we announced the calendar for the 2022 season in January, the global picture has changed significantly. Unfortunately, this year we will not be able to run the race in Japan, where we have a lot of support. However, the problems associated with the organization of the podium have increased significantly in the past six months. Unfortunately, this made it impossible for our young company to hold this race.
The 2022 season would be a milestone as we planned to host more races in a season than ever before, including the first race in Asia in a market that is important to us. I would like to thank Formula 1 and the Singapore Grand Prix team for helping us make this possible.”
