Last week, Aston Martin announced a two-year contract extension with Fernando Alonso. The Spanish driver will continue to drive for the Silverstone team until the end of 2026.
As Racingnews365 discovered, Aston Martin has also decided on its future plans to participate in Formula 1. Aston Martin’s parent company Lagonda took advantage of the option and bought additional shares of the Formula 1 team for 20 million pounds. In addition, Aston Martin has committed to racing in Formula 1 at least until 2030.
At a meeting with investors, CEO Lawrence Stroll commented on recent developments at Aston Martin: “Formula 1 has helped change the nature of the business and increased our efficiency and credibility by bringing racing expertise into road car production.
Thanks to Formula 1, 2.3 billion viewers see Aston Martin cars in the beautiful British racing green color 24 weekends a year. All this has contributed to Aston Martin being bought by younger customers.”
