Red Bull will focus on hydrogen technology

Red Bull Advanced Technologies is joining forces with Austrian AVL Technologies to develop advanced technical solutions that enable the use of hydrogen technology in motorsport, road transport and aviation.

The aim of the joint project is to create fuel cells that have a very high energy density, while the design of the new generation of engines will be very light – as is clear from Red Bull’s press release, they should be two-thirds lighter than the current ones . systems in which hydrogen technologies are used.

This is what will allow us to expand the scope of such technologies, the development of which AVL is already developing quite successfully, but now they are starting a new project together with Red Bull, and in the future it could become a real breakthrough. In any case, both companies are very optimistic.

Robert Gray, CTO of Red Bull Advanced Technologies, said: “We are pleased to be working with AVL on this joint project to improve the energy density of fuel cells to achieve greater efficiency.

This project will demonstrate how breakthrough engineering inspired by Formula 1 can be successful when applied to real-world problems.”
