Max Verstappen: You can overtake in China

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are preparing well for the Chinese Grand Prix. The drivers of Red Bull Racing admit that the sprint format will cause difficulties, but both count on the maximum result.

Max Verstappen: “It was great to win at Suzuka and spend time in Japan with family and friends. We now look forward to the Chinese Grand Prix with its sprint challenges.

We have not raced on this circuit since 2019 and have only one practice session available, during which it will be important to find the right settings and make sure we are working correctly with the tires. This is an added factor that should keep the fans interested and the team working hard to be ready.

China has a beautiful and unique circuit with challenging corners and long straights with plenty of overtaking opportunities. “I have always enjoyed racing at this track and I am looking forward to seeing what results we can achieve this weekend.”

Sergio Perez: “It’s great to be back in China – it’s been a long time since our last visit. I’ve never driven for Red Bull at this circuit, so it will be fun. The track is difficult, but I think we have already proven that the RB20 is competitive on most tracks.

The race in Japan proved how confident I am behind the wheel of this car and how I can get the best out of it in areas where I had problems last season.

I went to the base in Milton Keynes to prepare with the team for a few upcoming races. Preparation is very important for the sprint weekend, because we have little time to find settings directly on the track.

The new format is not easy for everyone, but everyone is on an equal footing and my goal is to get as many points as possible this weekend.”
