On the eve of the Chinese Grand Prix, the FIA spoke about changes at the track and confirmed the location of two DRS zones.
Compared to 2019, when the Shanghai circuit last hosted a Formula 1 round, the bumps at turns one, three and eight have been removed. The asphalt safety zones on the left at Turn 12 and on the right at Turn 16 have been reduced to 1.7 meters and gravel has been laid behind them.
All elongated semi-circular curbs (so-called “sausages”) and all artificial grass have been removed from the track. A new protective mesh fence has been installed in the area of marshals post number 9.5.
There are two DRS zones left in Shanghai. The detection point for the second interval between cars is at the 12th turn, and the activation point is 450 meters after the thirteenth turn.
The second detection point is 35 meters before the 16th turn and the activation point is 98 meters after the 16th.
