The Alpine team brought technical updates to Shanghai. Esteban Ocon is happy that the car has received new features ahead of schedule, but does not expect a significant increase in results.
Esteban Ocon: “First of all I have to say that the team has done an excellent job in preparing updates for my car ahead of schedule. However, we don’t expect them to change our speed dramatically. But a pleasant surprise is also possible, so we’ll see when we hit the track.
Our speed largely depends on the characteristics of the track. In Australia we fought for points, we fought with Haas – I had good chances until the moment when a film from the helmet visor got into the brake air duct.
This season we have already reached the second part of qualifying twice – in Australia and Suzuka, but in Japan the car was damaged at the start, causing more problems in the race. We can say that the team has taken a step forward in one fast lap, but we still have a lot of work to do on the race pace.”
