In the first sprint of the season, Max Verstappen started from 4th position, but this did not stop him from taking another confident victory.
Max Verstappen: “The first few laps were quite chaotic and the drivers who started ahead of me attacked very aggressively. In addition, Carlos Sainz was of course behind me on new tires, and at first it was not easy to stop him.
Also in the first two laps I had problems with the battery, but we were able to solve it and when the situation stabilized, everything gradually started to improve.
It became more comfortable to drive, the balance improved and I could already check the performance of the tires, which I was very happy with. It is of course also good that we have been able to collect enough information to prepare for tomorrow’s Grand Prix.
Of course, it is now very important to qualify as well as possible in order to start from a good position on Sunday – this will make the task in the first laps much easier. However, it is difficult to say what awaits us tomorrow, because the direction and strength of the wind is constantly changing and that also makes piloting difficult.”
