The four-time world champion informed fans of his retirement at the end of this season.
Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement. The 35-year-old German pilot of the Aston Martin team announced it on his page in the social network.
The four-time world champion said this season in the “royal races” will be his last.
“Over the past 15 years I have been fortunate to work with many amazing people in Formula 1 – too many to mention and thank everyone.
I have been driving in the Aston Martin team for the last two years and although our results were not as good as we expected, everything is now created so that in the future the team can compete at the highest level.
I really enjoyed working with these wonderful people. Everyone – Lawrence, Lance, Martin, Mike, senior managers, engineers, mechanics and others in the team – are ambitious, capable, experienced, dedicated and friendly people.
I wish them all the best. I hope that my work in the past and this year will be useful for building a team that can win in the future. In the last ten races, as always, I will work hard for the good of the team.
The decision to retire was not an easy one, I thought about it a lot. At the end of the year, I will take some time to think about what I will do next, but it is very clear to me that I want to spend more time with my family. But today it’s not about goodbye. Instead, it’s about saying thank you – to everyone – and not least to the fans, without whose passionate support Formula 1 wouldn’t exist,” said Vettel.
