Red Bull denies speculation about Newey’s upcoming departure

Adrian Newey is one of those paddock heroes that is constantly talked about, and reasons for various types of rumors often emerge, even if they are not always well-founded.

On the one hand, there is no reason to doubt the reliability of reports about his possible departure from Red Bull Racing, especially since information about this appeared in very authoritative sources. On the other hand, it is also known that Newey extended his contract with the Milton Keynes team last year and that his obligations do not expire until the end of 2025. According to experts, his fees amount to about $10 million per year.

If it is confirmed that the most successful racing car designer in Formula 1 history is indeed negotiating with Ferrari, he could be paid many times more in Maranello. For now, however, Red Bull Racing hastened to respond to rumors of an impending divorce from Newey and issued a very short note.

“Adrian’s contract runs until at least the end of 2025. We are not aware of him moving to another team,” a Red Bull spokesperson confirmed.

However, this formulation cannot, for example, exclude the possibility that Newey withdraws from matters related to Formula 1, or goes on ‘academic leave’ for one reason or another, followed by dismissal.

But apparently he will remain as head of Red Bull Racing’s technical department for the foreseeable future, and it is understood he will work with the team at the Miami Grand Prix.
