Haas team boss Ayo Komatsu said he regularly reports to owner Gene Haas on progress.
When asked by Racingnews365 whether he should be in constant contact with Haas, Ayo said: “I shouldn’t, but Gene is very interested in what is going on. He is the owner of the team, so he is interested in how the races go and what results we show. That’s why I talk to him after every qualifying and after every race.
Sometimes he calls me himself. In Australia he called me during the second part of qualifying, before it was all over. I called him back after the final because I was curious how it would turn out.
To be honest, we communicate well, and I’m glad the team has such an interested owner. I remember a completely opposite situation at Lotus: Genii’s owners didn’t care, which didn’t have the best effect on the team’s motivation.
Gene wants us to get results because he funds us. He came to the first two races of the season, which was very good for the team. Of course he’s coming to Miami.”
