At Imola, Nicholas Latifi qualified 18th for the third time this season. His Williams teammate Alex Albon missed a quick lap due to a brake burn in the right rear wheel area.
Nicholas Latific (18th): “There is no doubt that the session turned out to be difficult. The first practice was rainy and qualifying was held in varyingly difficult conditions, but everyone was in an equal position.
My problem so far is that I don’t feel the car well enough to attack with all my strength. I don’t always have confidence in the car on a dry track and driving on a wet road is even more difficult.
It’s good that I had the chance to evaluate the FW44 on a wet track. I am sure we will have more rain sessions this season. I hope we can regain positions in tomorrow’s sprint and guarantee a higher starting position in Sunday’s race.”
Alex Albon (without time): “Unfortunately I had to end qualifying early due to brake problems. This happens, but in the evening we will study everything and understand what went wrong and how to solve the problem.
Fortunately, thanks to the sprint, we will have opportunities to improve our starting positions in Sunday’s race.”
