Andretti is also not expected in Formula 2 and Formula 3

Formula 2 and Formula 3 executive director Bruno Michel said he does not see any possibility for the Andretti team to participate in these series.

Bruno Michel: “I read that Andretti wants to join F2 and F3, but so far we have not communicated about that. Maybe this will happen. Either way, they will have to go through the same process as everyone else.

Every three years we carry out a selection process in both series. Last year it took place in Formula 2 and this year it will take place in Formula 3. I don’t know how this fits into their strategy, as at the same time they are discussing the possibility of competing in Formula 1. There are no details at the moment.

In Formula 3 there can be no question of expanding the number of cars. Thirty cars is a very nice number, for which it is still difficult for teams to find drivers. Plus, too many cars are not good for racing. We will certainly not increase their numbers in Formula 3.

As for Formula 2. Previously there were 26 cars in GP2, then we reduced their number to 20 and increased them to 22. I am happy with these figures for a number of reasons.

Finding 22 riders with the right budget is not an easy task. It is also important to understand how many seats will be available in Formula 1. There should not be too many drivers in Formula 2 if it is not possible to progress to the next level. So at the moment I am not inclined to increase the number of teams.

But Andretti can reach an agreement with the current team or make a request in case someone refuses to perform or cannot fulfill his obligations in the future.”
