Sainz: The car is fast, but the reliability is the weak point

Carlos Sainz believes Ferrari can win in Hungary, but for that the team needs to drive flawlessly over a race weekend and avoid reliability issues.

“I’m sure we can fight for the win at the same high speed this weekend as in Austria and France,” Carlos told a press conference in Hungary. – Of course it is one thing to say that we will perform strongly, and quite another to say that we will perform strongly. We know how hard it is. Past races have been a good example – even if you are competitive you still have to put all the ingredients together to win, and this is a difficult part of Formula 1.

This year, the competitiveness of the car is not a problem. We are quickly on all the tracks where we have come. In some phases the pace in the race and qualifying was higher for Red Bull, for some we have – we are in a great battle and every weekend we have a chance to win – Hungary is no exception.

I believe we have all the ingredients, but now we need to bring them together – then we have a reason to celebrate on Sunday. It is much harder to have a clean weekend in Formula 1 than people think. Yes, we have a competitive car, but it also has weaknesses – reliability, but there are still many races ahead.

This season we have seen that anything can happen in any race. Everyone has ups and downs. Even if the top four perform consistently, this is no guarantee that the weekend will end as you expect.
