Verstappen: Of course I would prefer Newey to stay

Max Verstappen responded to the news of Adrian Newey’s impending departure from Red Bull Racing and emphasized that everyone has the right to do what he or she deems necessary.

Max Verstappen: “Of course I would prefer Adrian to stay, but in the end – and I also told him this – you have to do what suits you best. Formula 1 can be compared to a kind of shark pool, and here it is very important to take care of your own interests, make your own decisions, think about yourself and your family.

I might add that I don’t blame him for anything. It’s completely normal for him to want to leave to do other tasks or other things.”

When the reigning world champion was asked whether he would consider leaving Red Bull Racing if he received a financially attractive offer from one of the rival teams, Verstappen replied: “In the end it’s not about the money for me, because I’m quite happy with what I do. already have on this team. This is of course a very important aspect, but the fastest machine and a favorable working environment are even more important.

We all have this, and this is just what I need, you know? When you have such a machine, it is much easier to make the right decisions. And as long as I am satisfied with the atmosphere, and as long as our car remains the fastest, everything is simple and clear to me.

We even have very good specialists working for us, about whom the press perhaps doesn’t talk enough. So everything is fine, they know what they are doing, they know what they are capable of and what an important contribution they have made to the success of the team and to the creation of this car. So we just keep working.”
