Ferrari 12Cilindri sports car presented in Miami

Ferrari decided to coincide the premiere of the latest 12Cilindri sports car with the race weekend in Miami, and the day before there was a presentation in Florida of this model, equipped with a powerful naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine. Such engines pay tribute to the long traditions of the Italian company, which is why, as in the days of Enzo Ferrari, the engine is located at the front.

The power units of the F140 line are also installed on some other Ferrari models, for example on the 812 Competizione, but the HD version, developed for the new sports car, is even more efficient, which is achieved, among other things, by the use of more expensive and lighter materials.

It is especially emphasized that the creation of the F140HD is based on the experience gained over the years of performance in Formula 1. With a maximum power of 830 hp. the engine spins up to 9500 rpm, allowing a 1560 kg car to accelerate to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. Maximum speed – 340 km/h.

Power is sent to the drive wheels (the rear wheels, of course) via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, similar to that of the SF90 Stradale.

Ferrari knows how to build fast cars, there is no doubt about that, but the most difficult thing for the engineers from Maranello was to ensure that the 12Cilindri met strict modern standards for the content of harmful substances in exhaust gases, and was not too noisy. but at the same time the sound of the engine would remain very expressive.

The car looks impressive, this applies both to its very attractive and at the same time predatory appearance, and to the interior. Whatever body color the customer chooses, the area around the radiator grille remains black – this is the principle position of the design team led by Flavio Manzoni. This is also a nod to the past, because the beak of the classic 365 GTB/4 Daytona was also black.

The car is equipped with active aerodynamic elements: the outer edges of the rear spoiler automatically raise at speeds above 60 km/h, increasing the downforce around the rear axle.

The new model’s suspension and brakes are taken from the Ferrari 812 Superfast, but the braking system’s software, which is controlled via the brake-by-wire principle, has been significantly redesigned.

Prices for the 12Cilindri start at 395 thousand euros – this is how much a car with a coupe body will cost. The “hardtop” version, i.e. with a roof that automatically retracts into the trunk within 14 seconds, costs even more: 435 thousand euros.

The presentation of the car, held in Miami Beach, marked the 70th anniversary of Ferrari’s entry into the American market. We must assume that one of the first owners of the 12Cilindri will be Scuderia racers, and soon such a car will appear in the garage of Charles Leclerc, and after some time in the collection of Lewis Hamilton. However, it cannot be ruled out that the seven-time world champion already has it.
